How to Service the Fuel Pump and Gauge Sender on 2008 Dodge Durango?

The fuel gauge sender should be serviced with the fuel system pressure thoroughly released first, because it stays under pressure all the time. Drain the tank first and then take it out. First, look at the indexing arrow placed on the fuel pump module to see which way the pump is turned. Slide Position Lockring Remover/Installer 9340 into the notches that are placed along the top and bottom edges of the lockring. With Lockring Remover/Installer 9340, fasten a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and turn the breaker bar counterclockwise to take off the lockring. After taking out the lockring, the module will come up a bit and can easily be removed from the fuel tank without bending the float's arm.
