2008 Dodge Nitro Fuel Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Fuel Pump and Gauge Sender on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: The fuel gauge sender needs to have the pressure in the system released before being serviced, since the fuel system stays under pressure at all times. Cover the process by taking out the fuel tank before any other step. Before taking off the module, make sure you write down the fuel pump's rotational position based on the indexing arrow on the pump's top. Place the 9340 Lockring Remover/Installer tool in the notches you can find along the outside of the lockring. Put on a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar to the Lockring Remover/Installer tool 9340 and turn the breaker bar counter-clockwise to remove the lockring. With the lockring gone, the module will rise up a bit so that it can be taken out of the fuel tank without putting pressure on the float arm.
