2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Repair an Automatic Transmission Filter on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: First, let the engine run until the transmission oil is up to operating heat before working on the fluid filter. After that, raise and support the vehicle. Get rid of the five bolts and four retainers that hold the oil pan on the transmission and after removing the pan and its gasket. After that, pull out the transmission oil filter and the o-ring out of the electrohydraulic control unit. Take out any dirt from the inside of the oil pan and examine the oil pan gasket; change it as needed. Secure a new oil filter and a new o-ring into the electrohydraulic control unit. After that, connect the transmission back to the oil pan and gasket. Using the bolts and retainers, fasten the oil pan to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.), using torque. Following the lowering of the vehicle, put in 5.0 L (10.6 pts.) of transmission fluid and make sure the oil level is right.
