How to Safely Remove an Axle Shaft on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

To remove the axle shaft, make sure the vehicle is in neutral on a hoist. Remove calipers, rotors and the axle end plug. Take out speed sensors, axle flange nuts. Pull the axle shaft and backing plate downward until the bearing can be seen and then pull out the O-ring and slide out the axle shaft.
