How to Service and Repair a Rear Parking Brake Cable on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Services and repairs to the rear parking brake cable begin with the removal of the rear seat bottom. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the final drive control module and take out the nuts holding its bracket. Afterward, take the rear sill plates off and unroll the rear floor carpet to get to the park brake cables in the back. Disconnect the park brake cable from the wheel and also disconnect the brake cables from the equalizer. At the floor, remove both longitudinal and transverse brakes and then you should lift and secure the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire and then the rear caliper and disc brake rotor. Pull loose the cable at the park brake actuator and remove the rear park brake shoes from their mountings. Removing both the bolts on the stabilizer bar bushing and the two push pins for the park brake cable to the axle is necessary. After that, unclip the park brake cable on the support plate and pull the cable from the vehicle.
