2009 Chrysler Sebring Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Catalytic Converter on 2009 Chrysler Sebring?
A: When servicing the catalytic converter, start by ensuring the system has cooled because it runs very hot during operation. First, it is important to help raise and support your vehicle. Penetrating oil should be applied to the clamp circling the resonator/pipe assembly and to the area where the catalytic converter is fastened to the exhaust manifold. Take the ground strap off of the muffler and then open the band clamp on the resonator/pipe assembly. Hands should be used to remove the rubber isolators, but lubricants can be applied to them if you use soapy water or a silicone spray, but steer clear from petroleum-based lubricants, as they can harm the rubber. The next step is to take the support isolators off the muffler/resonator assembly supports and remove the whole pipe as an assembly. The 2.4L engine requires you to disconnect the oxygen sensor connector 1, take out the flange nuts from the exhaust manifold and remove the catalytic converter from your car 3 after that, get rid of the gasket.
