2009 Chrysler Sebring Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Correctly Install a Clock Spring Assembly on 2009 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Disabled the additional restraint system by isolating the negative battery cable and then allow the air bag's capacitor to drain for 2 minutes before putting in the Clock Spring assembly. One end of the molded plastic locking pin in the service replacement Clock Spring should not be removed until the steering wheel is in place, otherwise, the Clock Spring has to be centered again. Lock both the steering wheel and locks before you start driving. If a new Clock Spring is installed, put the multifunction switch jumper harness from the previous unit on the new one or insert a new one. Slide the Clock Spring over the upper shaft of the steering column and link the back of the Clock Spring case with all three instrument panel wire harness connectors. Put the Clock Spring on the steering column lock housing and hold it in place with three screws, starting with the lower right, upper left and finishing with the upper right. Each screw should be tightened to 3 Nm (27 in. lbs.) to make the rotation of the steering wheel soundless. After that, slide both upper and lower shrouds over the steering column and reinstall the left and right multifunction switches on the Clock Spring. Set the height of the steering column to the highest point, lock it and now secure the steering wheel. Finally, unscrew the plastic locking pin attached to the Clock Spring rotor so the battery negative cable can't be connected until the system test is performed to prevent serious harm.
