2009 Dodge Avenger Trailing Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Trailing Arm on 2009 Dodge Avenger?
A: Before servicing or repairing the trailing arm, you should lift and support the vehicle. First, take off the wheel mounting nuts and next pull off the wheel and tire assembly. After that, unscrew the attachment (5) that holds the brake flex hose and tube bracket (1) to the trailing link and remove the brake tube from its routing clip (2). If necessary, remove the routing clips (4) fastening the wheel speed sensor (3) to the trailing link. When the car has rear disc brakes, withdraw the bolts (1) that hold the caliper adapter (3) to the brake support plate (4), then take out both together and hang them high to keep the brake hose and tubes from being pulled on or outstretched while they are held by a wire or bungee cord. The next step is to take away the brake rotor or brake drum before the hub and bearing. Take out the hair pin that holds the parking brake cable (2) to the brake support plate (3) by unclamping the cable from the hand foot lever (1). Slide the brake support plate back along the parking brake cable and use the cable to pull off the trailing link's bolt. Withdraw the three bolts (3) connecting the knuckle to the trailing link, the two bolts (2) securing the leading end of the trailing link to the body and then remove the trailing link itself.
