2008 Dodge Avenger Trailing Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Trailing Arm on 2008 Dodge Avenger?
A: To replace the trailing arm, you should raise the vehicle first. After that, unbolt the mounting nuts for the wheel and take the entire tire and wheel off. Take out the screw that holds the brake flex hose and tube bracket to the trailing link and then disconnect the brake tube from its clip on the trailing link. If your vehicle uses routing clips on the wheel speed sensor, remove them. Unlock the adapter bolts from the support plate on your rear disc brake if your car is so equipped, then lift out the caliper and adapter assembly while making sure the brake hose and tubing stay unstrained and out of your way. After brake caliper removal, remove the rotor or drum and then follow with the hub and its bearing. At the brake shoe, remove the parking brake cable from its lever and lift the hair pin securing it to the brake support plate. Slide the brake support plate and brake shoes off the cable at the end of the parking brake and pull the cable from the trailing link. Once all that's done, undo the three bolts holding the knuckle to the trailing link and remove the two bolts linking the trailing link's front to the vehicle, so the whole trailing link can come off.
