2009 Dodge Caliber A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an A/C Condenser and Adjust the Refrigerant Oil Level on 2009 Dodge Caliber?
A: Adjust the refrigerant oil level when attaching the A/C condenser to stop potential problems in the A/C system and avoid damaging the compressor. When adding more than one new part, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine the right oil for your system. When you have to replace a condenser, use 20 milliliters (0.7 fluid ounce) of the proper refrigerant oil. Replace the O-rings and gaskets on the refrigerant line each time you remove it for better safety. First, drop the A/C condenser all the way down in the front of the radiator and attach the upper brackets. If you use a 2.0L diesel motor, add a charge air cooler during installation. Between the A/C condenser and firewall, link the transmission lines and then raise and hold up the vehicle. Downward bracket bolts should be secured to the base of the radiator with two screws tightened to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). The A/C liquid line of gasoline engine Acura vehicles is found through the front fascia. Pull the tape or other plugs from the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port, grease a fresh rubber O-ring and slip it and the gasket onto the liquid line fitting. Join the A/C liquid line to the condenser and then tighten the nut at the end to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Position the vehicle lower, repeat for the discharge line fitting and condenser inlet port and make sure to grease both the O-ring and gasket you have just installed. If you have a gasoline engine, slightly move the radiator backwards to get to the A/C condenser. Pipe the A/C discharge line to the condenser and tighten the securing nut to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). When your car has a 2.4L turbo engine, attach the charge air cooler to the charge air cooler at the throttle body hose. Leave the front underbody cover in place and place the front fascia on the 2.0L diesel engine. Attach the negative battery cable and make sure the engine has no vacuum pump or vacuum present in the A/C system to avoid hurting the compressor. Get rid of the refrigerant in the system and then if the condenser is being replaced, add 20 milliliters (0.7 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil. When replacing various parts, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to get the correct oil amount and fill the system with the suggested oil.
