• Q: How to Detach the Drive Shaft on 2009 Dodge Journey?

  A: Before taking out the propeller shaft, hoist up the vehicle and mark the places on the shaft and differential where they need to be installed. After that, remove the nuts (1) holding the rear propeller shaft to the rear axle and the bolts (3) from the center support heat shield (2). Do not allow the propeller shaft to hang when it is connected to the PTU, rear driveline module or center bearings, otherwise, it could twist or bend, tearing the joint, boot or bearing, causing vibrations or troubles in shaft balance; you may need help to position the shaft. Afterward, undo the heat shield (2), the center support mounting bolts (1) and the bolts (2) at the PTU and, last, remove the propeller shaft (3).
