If you remove the nuts alongside the studs, new studs should be installed and the coarse thread ends should be treated with sealer to stop water from leaking through them. Set the exhaust manifold on the heads' studs and add an embracing gasket on top, then place conical washers and nuts on these same studs. Fit the conical washers next to each bolt head, then tighten the fitted bolts and nuts by beginning at the center arm and moving outwards to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). After that, assemble the heat shields and get the vehicle elevated and supported, while you avoid over tightening the fasteners that could damage them. Now, join the exhaust pipe to the manifold and seal everything together with bolts, nuts and retainers, making them as tight as 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). All steps for installing and tightening the studs, following specifications and installing the heat shield are the same for the left exhaust manifold.
