2009 Jeep Commander Fuel Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Fuel Pump on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Before servicing the fuel gauge sender, release the high pressure inside the fuel system since it will remain even when the engine is off. Disconnect the black battery cable and make sure to drain the fuel tank prior to taking the battery out. Look at the top indexing arrow on the module to know how the fuel pump is rotated. Place SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench 9340 against the notchesfound around the outside of the lock ring. Add a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar to the wrench and turn it counter-clockwise to remove the lockring, raising the module a little. Make sure you don't bend the float arm while you pull the module out of the fuel tank.
