To fix the latch of the trunk or liftgate, first remove a negative battery cable and then the trim panel with the help of a trim stick. Should there be a failure then open the latch manually by using the access opening. Then, loosen screws holding on the latch and disconnect the electrical connector(s) and the latch cable.
