2010 Chrysler Town & Country Valve Body Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Extract the Valve Body from a 3.8L Engine on 2010 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: First, take out the battery tray and, in case your 3.8L engine has one, remove the relay at the core support. Take off the radiator cap, open the drain below and remove the upper hose clamps before getting rid of the upper radiator hose. After that, get rid of the exhaust crossover pipe and the coolant recovery bottle. Disconnect the oil cooler lines going to the transaxle with Trans Cooler Line Disconnect 8875A and secure the lines away from the car. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual lever and from the valve body oil pan solenoid pack. If the car has them, remove the bolts and the Front Sound Damper Cover. Remove the top bolts of the valve body oil pan, turn the wheel far to the left and for equipped models, remove the bolt at the ground cable and the clip on the valve body pan and move the cable away from the pan. To remove the transmission fluid, take out the lower valve body bolts and then remove the oil pan. Separate the electrical connector that's on the valve body, remove the screw on the detente arm and take off the detente arm. Take out the twenty-one valve body to case bolts, making sure the manual lever is fully forward so the manual valve pin doesn't get caught. Then, pull the valve body from the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes and raise it to ensure the manual valve pin passes the slot in the rooster comb.
