Chrysler Town & Country Valve Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Valve Body on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
Raise the car on the hoist and then replace the clutch oil seal with a New 2/4 part. After that, place new O-rings on both of the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes. Move the manual lever all the way to the front to prevent binding and carefully set the manual valve pin into the slot on the rooster comb. Slide the valve body onto the oil transfer tubes on the underdrive compounder and push it into the assembly. Mount the twenty-one valve body to the case, fastening the bolts at 6 Nm (50 in. lbs), then put the detente arm into the pin at the valve body and fasten with a 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.) screw. Attach the electrical connector to the valve body, drop the hoist and set the valve body oil pan in place with some Mopar(R) Atf Rtv. Screw down the upper valve body oil pan bolts and the pressure tap at the valve body oil pan to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Drop the vehicle and gel the solenoid pack into the valve body oil pan's connector. Lift the vehicle back up and place the lower valve body pan bolts in their holes, tightening them to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). After that, install the left splash shield screws and the Front Sound Damper Cover with all its fasteners. Bring the vehicle down, tie the cable to the manual lever and add the lower radiator hose and its clamps. Fuel the cooling system, plug the battery cable in, pour fluids into the transmission and check the car on the road.
  • Q: How to Remove a Valve Body on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
Remove the cover over the engine and unplug the negative battery terminal before removing the valve body. First, drain the radiator and then remove the clamps at the lower radiator hose, then take out that hose too. Pull the Shift Cable off the lever and pull the fasteners and Front Sound Damper Cover out of the vehicle. After that, take out the bolts securing the top valve body Oil Pan and separate the solenoid pack connector at the valve body oil pan. Lift up the car on a hoist and open the splash screws from the inner wheel well opening on the front left side. After that, turn the wheel totally to its left. Open the valve's pressure tap by removing the plug, then drain the transmission fluid from the pan by taking out the valve body oil pan bolts. Seperate the electrical connector from the valve body, then remove the screw at the detente arm and take out the detente arm. Take out the twenty-one valve body to case bolts, but keep the manual lever fully forward or the manual valve pin could be blocked. Last, remove the valve body from the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes and raise it so the manual valve pin no longer blocks the slot in the rooster comb.
