2010 Dodge Avenger Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Front Lower Control Arm on 2010 Dodge Avenger?
A: Set the lower control arm into the front suspension crossmember before anything else. Put the rear bolt into the crossmember and the lower control arm crosswise, then attach and don't tighten the nut yet. After that, put in the bolt that holds the lower control arm to the crossmember, making sure it's not fully tight for now. After removing any weight from the lower control arm, tighten both front and rear mounting bolts using 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.) and 145 Nm (107 ft. lbs.), respectively. Secure the stabilizer bar link at both ends of the stabilizer bar and tighten the nut after you have held the lower stud stationary and followed the required 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. Should you install a brand new or refurbished lower control arm, put a thin film of general purpose grease around the ball joint mounting hole to stop corrosion and keep grease away from the ball joint stud. Carefully place the lower ball joint stud through the control arm's hole and then insert and tighten a new stud nut to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). Fit the wheel and tire onto the hub, secure it with 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) on the wheel nuts, lower the vehicle and reduce wheel misalignment as needed.
