2010 Dodge Avenger Fuel Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely and Correctly Install a Fuel Pump on 2010 Dodge Avenger?
A: When putting in the fuel pump module, protect your hands and eyes to avoid accidents and only use fuel containers recommended by OSHA. Replace the rubber seal whenever you service the fuel pump module. Clear the seal area of your fuel tank and insert a fresh rubber O-ring seal. Place the fuel pump module into the fuel tank very carefully to avoid bending the float arm, so the fuel level gauge will be accurate. Place the O-ring in position and then spin the fuel pump module to line up with the markings from before. Set the lock-ring over the fuel pump module and use tool 9340 to grip the notches along its edge. Slide the 1/2 inch drive breaker bar into the lock-ring remover/installer 9340 and turn it clockwise until every notch is filled. Join the end of the fuel line to the release point on the fuel pump module (1) and do the same with the electrical connector. Once done, install the fuel pump module access cover, rear seat and negative battery cable. Don't forget to pressurize the system using the Scan Tool and look for leaks.
