To replace the exhaust manifold, place it on the cylinder head and insert the bolts in the center runner of cylinder #3, at first tightening them to 2.8 Nm (25 in. lbs.). Apply a new gasket, fasten one end of the crossover pipe (1) to the exhaust manifold, secure with bolts at 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) and always inspect damage from heat and corrosion on the bolt heads; using OEM bolts as replacements is suggested. Put in the rest of the manifold bolts and tighten every single one to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Then, install the heat shield (2,4) and its attaching screws and later install and attach the upstream oxygen sensor. Attach the catalytic converter pipe (4) to the exhaust manifold after lifting the engine, with a new gasket and tighten the bolts to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.), then hook up the downstream oxygen sensor connector. Add the belt splash shield after installation and lower the car, then add the wiper module and connect the negative battery cable.
