2010 Dodge Grand Caravan Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Shock Absorber in the Front Suspension Strut Assembly on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before changing the struts, raise the vehicle, separate the nuts from the wheel mounts and remove the entire tire and wheel to gain access. Make sure you mark both strut assemblies as right or left if you are removing them both to prevent mixing them up. Take care: Mounting the brackets for the left and right wheel speed sensor, you must install the left screw from the rear and the right one from the front, since they lie opposite each other on the strut. After that, remove the screw that holds the wheel speed sensor routing bracket to the strut mounting flange. When you take out the nut from the stabilizer bar link, use an open-end wrench to hold the stud so it doesn't rotate. Secure the stud within the strut assembly and remove the nut with a wrench. After, push the stud out of the bracket. These attaching bolts are serrated and should never be turned as you remove them; instead, hold the heads in place, remove the nuts and then use a pin punch to lift out the bolts. After that, remove the wiper arms and cowl grille from the cowl plenum. Afterward, take out the nuts connecting the strut assembly's upper mount to the strut tower and bring out the entire strut assembly. For taking the strut assembly apart, read the recommended disassembly guide.
