How to Properly Install a Rear Shock Absorber on Dodge Grand Caravan?

Begin by placing the shock absorber (5) at the body bracket and install the two bolts (2) and nuts (1), but don't tighten them for now. Adjust the rear axle using a jack, so you can fit the lower mounting bolt through the flange and the shock absorber's lower mounting eye. Then, place the nut (3) on the lower mounting bolt (4), not tightening it just now. Set your vehicle down after you remove the jack and then day it on a lift or alignment rack, adjusting the lift to raise the vehicle while at curb (riding) height. Tighten the bolts connecting the shock absorber-the upper and lower ones-to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).

How to Remove a Shock Absorber on Dodge Grand Caravan?

First, lift the car and put it on stands and then take off the mounting nuts, wheel and tire. If you are removing both strut assemblies, note left or right to prevent any parts swapping. Since the left and right side wheel speed sensors are routed differently, the left bracket mounting screw is installed from the rear and the right one is installed from the front. After that, take out the screw that holds the wheel speed sensor routing bracket to the strut's mounting flange. When taking out the nut from the stabilizer bar link, hold the stud with an open-end wrench to avoid it from rotating.
