2010 Jeep Wrangler Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What is the Correct Method for Installing a Knock Sensor on 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Clean the area around the knock sensor mounting hole before installing it. Adjust the position of your sensor to the engine and check that the bolts are fastened with just the right amount of force. For the knock sensor bolt, always use 15 +/- 2 ft. lbs., because it can be a little tough to get the correct torque on an 8 mm bolt. The foam on the bolt threads is used to keep the bolts in place when you install the sensors; do not seal, lock or use glue on these bolts. Screw down the mounting bolt, connect the electrical wire to the sensor, drive the vehicle to the ground and then reconnect the negative terminal.
