To work on or repair the front brake pads, first raise and support the vehicle, paying attention to all safety advice. Drop off the wheel mounting nuts and take out the tire and wheel assembly. Should you need more space, back out the caliper piston slightly and pull the caliper body away at the back end. Following this, fasten a wrench on the lower caliper guide pin bolt and hold the guide pin still, as you rotate the bolt counterclockwise. Hold the caliper steady while turning it upward to see the brake pads; be sure not to tug the brake hose too far. To clean your brakes, use a water mister to dampen the components and then wipe them down using a damp cloth, tossing all the dirty parts and any pieces of the cloth that may have asbestos fibers in a sealed container labeled by OSHA and the EPA. Retract the caliper piston into the bore either by hand or with a C-clamp and a wooden block covering the piston's head. After taking out the old brake pads, fix an anti-rattle clip onto the adapter's abutment, then secure the new brake pads on, so they can be used on either side of the car. Move the guide pins from the caliper adapter into the caliper channel to open the mounting holes, turn the caliper upside down and bring the upper mounting center into line with the step below.
