Chrysler 300 automobiles contain the Thermostat which controls the engine heat so that it supplies the premier heat for the optimal performance. This component is usually located beside the radiator and works as a closed loop control element to control the flow of the coolant in a circuit depending on the temperature. On Chrysler 300 models, there has been a change of different thermostat types, which include the mechanical types such as, bimetallic strip type and wax pellet type. That is the main idea of the wax pellet design which is to take more space at lower temperatures and shrink to fit the inner dimensions at higher temperatures which will raise the efficiency of the engine.

Chrysler 300 Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 2.7L Engine on Chrysler 300?
    A:
To work on the engine coolant thermostat, always disconnect the negative battery cable first. Never remove the pressure cap when the system is hot and pressurized or you may get seriously burned by the coolant. Release all the cooling liquid inside the vehicle. After that, remove the lower hose from the thermostat housing. Pull away the nuts on the heater tube flange studs and undo the bolt at the start of the heater tube bracket. Get the heater tube from inside the thermostat housing and put it somewhere where it won't get in the way. After that, remove the bolt and the two studs before you remove the thermostat housing, O-ring and thermostat.
  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Thermostat on a 2.7L Engine on Chrysler 300?
    A:
Start by cleaning the gasket surfaces on the thermostat to service or repair a 2.7L engine. Set the thermostat with its bleed valve at 12 o'clock, then place the O-Ring into the thermostat housing after the tabs on the seal. If you took off the studs before, then replace them now. After that, join the thermostat, thermostat housing, O-ring and bolt by tightening their bolts to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Rub coolant onto the new O-ring of the heater return tube and place the flange over the two studs, holding connection with nuts tightened to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.). Turn the starter bolt until it reaches 54.3 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and then join the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing. After that, fill the coolant again and link the negative cable.
