First, see if the shoulder/lap belt has cuts, frays, tears or damage and if it does, replace the retractor. Take the front seat all the way forward so you can reach the seat belt, then loosen the turning loop adjuster knob and remove the turning loop cover from the upper anchor bolt. Next, get rid of the upper anchor bolt, then take off the B-pillar upper trim, after that remove both the lower anchor bolt and the B-pillar lower trim panel. Remove the retractor harness connecter on the driver's side and then pull the retractor out of the car. Install the retractor in the vehicle, then join the retractor wire harness connector on the left where you sat while driving. Apply 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) of torque when mounting the lower B-pillar trim and the retractor anchor bolt. Route the belt webbing through the openings of the B-pillar upper trim. After you install the B-pillar upper trim and tighten the upper anchor bolt to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.), secure the string to the anchor you passed through. Shut the turning loop covers and secure the turning loop adjuster knob, making sure the anchor bolt is through the webbing anchor plate and retractor bracket. Then slide the cover over the anchor bolt and anchor plate.
