For the installation of the alternator in the 3.7L or 4.7L engine, put the generator on the engine and install two side bolts and one top bolt, tighten the horizontal bolts to 40 ft. lbs. and tighten the vertical bolt to 40 ft. lbs. Then, attach the end of the field wire connector to the back of the generator, followed by screwing the B+ terminal eyelet to the generator stud and tightening its nut to 108 in. lbs. One must never turn a screwdriver on a pulley rim demanding the belt, because it could damage the synthetic belt. Be sure to put the serpentine accessory
Drive Belt on correctly to keep the
Water Pump from turning the wrong way and make the engine overheat; look for the routing label in the engine compartment. Then, put in the generator drive belt and attach the negative battery cable to the battery again. For this engine, fix the generator to the engine and install 2 mounting bolts, tightening them to 30 ft. lbs. At this point, put the support bracket in front of the generator, attach the bolt and tighten the nuts to 30 ft. lbs. Replace the field wire connector in the generator's rear, add the B+ terminal eyelet to the generator's output stud, tightening the mounting nut to 108 in. lbs. Take the same careful steps for the belt as before, put the generator drive belt in place and secure the negative battery cable back to the battery.
