After you pull out the negative cable from the battery's terminal, take out the air cleaner assembly, resonator assembly and air inlet hose. Then, pull off the accessory
Drive Belt and next take out the A/C compressor and the A/C accumulator support bracket fastener. Draw out the coolant up to the level of the car's heater hoses and then unhook the hoses from the engine side. Unscrew or pull off the fasteners that hold the exhaust manifold heat shield and take out the heat shield as well. Take off all the fasteners that hold the upper exhaust manifold in place, lift the car on a hoist, disconnect the
Exhaust Pipe from the manifold and remove the fasteners holding the
Starter in position. Remove the lower mounting bolts from the exhaust manifold and pull the manifold and gasket out from below the engine area. After removing the negative cable from the battery, jerk the end of the lift up to turn the vehicle so you can work comfortably below and on top of the engine. Peel back the flex pipe at the manifold, have the vehicle lowered, securely hold it down and unfasten the heat shield in the front. Afterward, lift the vehicle again and do the same for the rear heat shield fasteners. Take off the heat shield, lower the vehicle and take away the upper exhaust manifold retaining bolts. Rise the vehicle for the second time and now remove the lower retaining bolts of the exhaust manifold. Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket from below the engine compartment.
