  Make sure to clean the places where the timing chain cover and the thermostat housing will be joined on the 3.7L/4.7L engine, before installing the engine coolant thermostat. After that, place the spring side of the thermostat (part number 3) into the recessed machined groove on the timing chain cover (part number 4). Secure the thermostat housing (part number 1), putting it into position on the timing chain cover and attaching it through the housing-to-timing chain cover bolts, tightening them to 13 Nm (112 in. lbs.). Place the lower radiator hose into the thermostat housing (part number 1). Place the splash shield onto the engine for the 4.7L. Pull the vehicle down and fill up the cooling system. Hook up the negative battery cable again, then run the engine and watch for leaks from any spare assembly.

After that, fit the thermostat into the recessed slot on the timing chain cover, spring-side down and place the thermostat housing over the cover. Secure the solid housing with two bolts fastened to 13 Nm (112 in. lbs.) torque, making sure the center of the housing is adjusted and that the thermostat is centered in the groove to stop cracking, damage to threads or coolant leaks. Then, fit the lower radiator hose onto the thermostat housing, install the splash shield and drive the vehicle down so the jacks are removed. Add coolant to the cooling system, secure the negative battery cable to the battery, begin the engine, allow it to hot up while you check for signs of leakages.
