Before servicing or repairing, attach the generator output to the positive terminal of the starter solenoid's battery to support a proper charging and cranking system. First, unplug the negative cable on the remote battery from the shock tower terminal, then take away the air cleaner resonator. After that, undo the positive electrical cable from the starter, using the nut at the battery and separate the generator output wire from the starter as well. You need to open the red locking tab, then push down on the lock to get the push-on solenoid connector free. Remove the two bolts linking the starter to the transmission housing and pull the starter from the vehicle. While setting up, reverse the steps taken for removal and always clean dirt or rust from the wire terminals before joining the wires to the solenoid again.
