2000 Chrysler Cirrus Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Starter Motor in an Automatic Transmission on 2000 Chrysler Cirrus?
A: Start the service of your auto starter by finding the remote negative terminal on the shock tower, disconnect the battery negative cable from it and also remove the air cleaner resonator. Afterward, take out the TCM screws and raise the TCM so you can access the top of the starter bolt without pulling out its wiring. Disconnect the top bolt on the starter's mounting bracket, lift the vehicle up, remove the nut securing the battery positive cable to the starter and disconnect the push-on solenoid connector. Pull the starter bolt from the bottom and remove the starter from the transmission housing in the car. When starting installation, connect the starter motor front to the housing while the vehicle is raised, lower the vehicle and install the upper bolt to the starter without overtightening it yet. Elevate the car again, set the bottom starter mounting bolt and tighten it until you reach 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque. Carefully remove dirt or corrosion from both the studs on the battery and solenoid before linking the positive battery cable to the solenoid and the push-on solenoid cable. Let the vehicle settle, tighten the starter bolt on the top to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.), mount the TCM along with its screws, insert the air cleaner resonator and attach the battery remote cable to the remote terminal.
