For EGR valve servicing or repair, begin by removing the negative
Battery Cable in the area of the cylinder head. Pull off the air inlet tube, resonator and bracket and then take off the solenoid's electrical connector. Then, get rid of the screws holding the EGR upper tube to the EGR valve and work on the ones mounting the EGR valve. Remove the screws that connect the EGR lower tube to the
Exhaust Manifold and take out the EGR valve and tube as one group. Scrub the gasket parts and toss the old gasket, removing dirt from the EGR passages if essential. When installing, insert the EGR valve and lower tube with a new gasket in between loosely. Secure the EGR valve to the rear of the cylinder head, but don't tighten the screws yet. Place a new gasket between the lower
EGR Tube and the exhaust manifold and then lightly screw them together. After applying a new gasket to the interface, set the upper tube in place and screw in the bolts. Screw the EGR valve to cylinder head by 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.) torque, then the EGR tube bolts to the valve by 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) and lastly, tighten the EGR lower tube screws to the exhaust manifold by 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.). Rejoin the electrical connector to the solenoid, connect the resonator bracket and insert both the air inlet tube and resonator. Afterward, reconnect the negative battery cable.
