Before starting the A/C evaporator job, turn off the vehicle's air bag system by disconnecting the battery negative (ground) and waiting for two minutes so the capacitor drains completely. The first steps are to take out the HVAC housing and heater core. After that, loosen the four screws and remove the valve strip from the heating housing, along with the aluminum lines. Remove the vacuum lines from the vacuum element and use the two sliding clips to split the blower housing from the air distribution housing. Take off the four spring clips, the screw behind the expansion valve and finally the foam gasket. Open the clips to separate the top section from the air distribution housing and after that, remove the evaporator from inside the housing. Place the evaporator in the housing, snap the upper section of the air distribution housing back to it with the spring clips and put the foam gasket back in place. Screw the backplate securely into place after the expansion valve, slide both clips onto the two air distribution housings and clip each end of the spring clips. Fix the vacuum lines to the vacuum element, add the valve strip back, the heater core and lastly the HVAC housing.
