Chrysler Crossfire Ignition Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Repair and Service an Ignition Switch on Chrysler Crossfire?
    A:
When servicing the ignition switch, take off the lower instrument panel cover, then the Instrument Cluster. Then, unattached the transponder coil from the lock cylinder once you have removed the top panel of the instrument cluster. To remove the transponder coil, place it onto the bottom of the plastic wedge and push it out of place. Detach the Skreem module from the 2-pin connector for the transponder coil. It's essential to remember that the steering lock and lock cylinder can only go in lock cylinder position "1," and you shouldn't turn the steering lock unless the ignition/starter switch is installed. Remove the key cylinder, afterwards unplug the connector (8) from the warning buzzer contact and the connector (1) from the ignition/starter switch. With an automatic transmission, pull the parking lock interlock cable (7) off, open the clamp (9), push in the locking pin and take the steering lock (6) out of the column. Unless the ignition/starter switch is fitted, keep the ignition switch in position "1" to stop the steering lock from locking. Take out the ignition switch (2), washer (3), parking lock valve (4) and warning buzzer (8) contact and switch. Make sure the warning buzzer contact switch (8) is put in place first, before doing anything else and making sure the steering lock and lock cylinder are set to "1." Once that's complete, install the washer next to the washer pump (1), then fix the parking lock valve (4). Put the clamp back into place (9) and push the locking pin so the steering lock (6) connects to the column, finally attach the parking lock interlock cable (7). After turning the ignition/starter switch (1), attach the warning buzzer contact (10) and connect the key cylinder, the transponder coil, the instrument cluster and wind everything up with the lower instrument panel cover.
