Before installing a steering wheel on an
Air Bag-equipped vehicle, disconnect the negative (ground) battery cable, wait two minutes and don't work on the steering wheel unless you've done so. When touching a deployed air bag, make sure to cover your eyes, arms and hands by wearing gloves and a long-sleeved shirt. Make sure the steering wheel sits centered, as if it is out by more than 1 tooth, the turn signal won't line up correctly. If it is out by less, just adjust and check the front wheel toe-in only if it is greater than 1 tooth out. Put the round holes on the steering wheel over the markings on the steering shaft, then push the tapered steering wheel bolt in the center and tighten it to 80 Nm (60 ft. lbs.). After that, put the air bag in place on the steering wheel.
