Chrysler Pacifica Radiator Drain Plug allows the coolant to drain out from the radiator's bottom allowing the entire cooling system to drain in minimum time during scheduled fluid changes or worn out parts replacement. The Radiator Drain Plug, when fastened, keeps coolant inside the radiator that keeps the engine within the 195 to 200 degree operating range while driving. It also provides a direct path to drain off fluid when loosened, without having to remove the radiator. The fact that it is fitted low on the radiator tank ensures complete draining. It also remains closed under normal pressure and temperature, thus preventing spillage. Radiator Drain Plug comes in varying shape, size and construction materials. Each design on the Pacifica may be plastic, brass, or silicone, but they all attach to the same service point on Chrysler cooling systems and form a leak free seal. A Radiator Drain Plug that is cracked or worn can cause coolant leaks and increase the chance of overheating. Regular inspection of every Chrysler Pacifica helps keep it protected, and the timely replacement of a damaged Radiator Drain Plug keeps the cooling system performing adequately for Chrysler Pacifica models.

Chrysler Pacifica Radiator Drain Plug Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to service a Radiator Drain Plug on Chrysler Pacifica?
    A:
To service the radiator drain plug, first drain the cooling system. Do not take off the cylinder block plug and the radiator draincock with the system hot and pressurised to avoid serious burns by coolant. Using pliers on the draincock is not recommended as this could damage it, and only take it off if it is leaking. To remove the draincock assembly from the radiator tank, turn the draincock counterclockwise for 180 degrees to the 9:00 o'clock position. Check the draincock body and O-ring for damage and replace as needed. The draincock assembly should be horizontally positioned to the tank opening with the manufacturer's identification mark face down. Next, push the assembly into the tank opening while rotating it clockwise until it snaps firmly into place. In the end, the draincock stem is closed by turning clockwise until it stops at the horizontal position and refill the coolant.
