While replacing the spark plugs and spark plug cables in a 3.8L engine, be sure the cables are routed properly and in the right retainers to prevent ignition noise, cross ignition, or shorting out. Always remove an individual cable by grasping the boot, rotating it 1/2 turn, and pulling straight back in a steady motion. Before removing the spark plug, use compressed air around the spark plug hole and surroundings. Using a good-quality socket with a foam insert, remove the spark plug and inspect its condition.
