Chrysler Prowler Power Steering Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Repair a Power Steering Reservoir on Chrysler Prowler?
    A:
Start by making sure your vehicle's engine is cold to prevent getting burnt while working on the power steering reservoir. Use a siphon pump to take out the fluid from the fluid reservoir. Unbolt the three bolts of the body side panel and raise and remove it from the supporting clips. Grab the return hose near one end and simply separate it from the reservoir to avoid destroying the fitting. Use your pliers to get rid of the clamp at the return hose first and do the same thing to release the supply line clamp without damaging the fitting. With the supply hose clamp removed, bend the retaining tab upward using a screwdriver, lift the reservoir onto the mount and then take it out. Before installing, confirm that the reservoir is safely housed in the bracket; if it is extra-easy to remove, bend the tab slightly inward so that it will remain securely. Move the reservoir into the bracket and then insert the tab so it fits into the lock. Fix the supply hose to the nipple of the power steering reservoir, past its bead and attach it with a hose clamp. Repeat these actions for the power steering return hose. Put only Mopar ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (MS-9602) into the power steering system, fill the pump reservoir to the mark and carry out the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation. At last, examine each connection where hoses meet and securely fasten the three bolts of the panel you pulled off.
