For at least 24 hours after windshield installation, do not drive the car to ensure the urethane adhesive is properly cured and can work as it should, should you ever get into an accident. Make sure to partially roll the left and right door glass down so no pressure builds up inside the passenger area if someone slams the door. If you decide to reuse the windshield, try to remove all the old urethane with a razor knife. Don't chip the paint on the windshield fence while doing so. Clean the upper edge of the windshield fence from most old urethane adhesive, but leave approximately 1 mm high to make sure the strength is not lost. Put new support spacers where needed along the windshield fence. Smooth out the first urethane glut across the car's windshield fence with a thickness of about 1 mm and attach any new adhesive backed spacers that are required. Install a similar rubber seal along the top edge of your windshield and then position the windshield into the opening against the spacers and the fence so it is even. Measuring from the fence and windscreen, write the dimensions on the glass as a reference and then place it on a padded table. Driver side window replacement must start with a clean windshield, so use an ammonia-based cleaner and a dry cloth. Once the glass is prepared, rub around the edge of the windshield with a glass prep product, making sure there are no smears left. Then, put glass primer around the margins and wait at least three minutes for it to dry, checking with a flashlight for even coverage and filling in uneven spots. Spray ammonia-based glass cleaner on the windshield fence and add pinch weld primer using the back of a brush, checking that it's wet all along the fence before letting it dry. Using a triangular nozzle, apply a 10 mm bead of adhesive to the glass about 6 mm away from the edge; start at the center of the windshield's bottom and pull each bead smooth to the middle. Place the windshield above the opening, making sure it's aligned with the marks and make certain the rubber seal goes inside perfectly as you gently lower the windshield down. Lay the windshield against the spacers set at the front, sides and bottom of the fence and then fix the cowl grill and rear view mirror.
