The process to service or repair the shift cable for a 41TE Automatic Transmission starts by removing the battery cables, the battery shield and finally the battery. Then, set aside the speed control servo and move it far from the rest of the robot. Release the cable at the valve lever and at the bracket on the upper part of the chassis. Remove the instrument panel lower silencer and the knee bolster as the next step. Remove the cable from the gear shift lever and, after that, take it out of the column bracket. Pull the grommet's cable from the dash panel and take the gear shift cable out of the interior too. After fishing the gear shift cable into the engine compartment, use the grommet to secure it in the dash panel hole. Run the gear shift cable through the bracket in the transmission tunnel and continue until you hear a "click." Then hook the cable to the gear shift lever. Slot in the knee bolster and place the instrument panel lower silencer again. Secure the gear shift cable to the transaxle upper mount bracket and make sure it makes another clear "click," and then hook the cable's end onto the transaxle manual valve lever. Fix the gearshift cable, put in the speed control servo, battery and battery shield, then link back the battery wires.
