Chrysler Voyager Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on Chrysler Voyager?
    A:
When you start work on the brake light switch, first cut off the negative post of the battery. Take the silencer panel and the knee blocker out from below the steering column. The brake lamp switch can be unscrewed 30 degrees in the counterclockwise direction and then pulled gently out of the bracket. Let go of the locking tab and detach the wiring connector from the switch, as you are only allowed to use the switch once. While installing, fit the wiring side of the switch to the connector and then lock the locking tab into position. Place the switch in its bracket so that the index tab lines up with the opening in it. After being fully seated, rotate the switch clockwise for about 300 degrees so it locks. While the brake pedal is fully released, raise the lever on the back of the brake lamp switch into the full vertical position so the rest of the switch is adjusted to fit inside your car. Make sure the stop lamps aren't constantly illuminated, then check that the engine stop lamps function as they should when you release the pedal. Take the car out for a road test to be sure the brakes and ABS are working correctly.
