The Radiator Drain Plug on a Dodge Caliber may be small, but it performs a crucial function. The component lets some coolant escape from the lower part of the radiator so that the system can be flushed without any hassle. When the radiator is not being flushed, the Radiator Drain Plug seals the cooling system so it can work effectively and maintain proper temperatures during regular driving. The Radiator Drain Plug is located at the bottom of the radiator and saves the hassle of removing the entire radiator so that a routine coolant change will be quicker and easier. When tightened, the Radiator Drain Plug prevents leakage that can lower coolant levels, disrupt heat regulation, and put the engine at risk of overheating. The Radiator Drain Plug can become cracked, worn, and leak coolant, so you should replace yours in a timely manner. The part for a Dodge Caliber comes in shapes sized for the car and can be made of plastic, brass, or silicone, materials that make a tight seal and are easy to install. The Radiator Drain Plug supports the Dodge cooling system and helps every Caliber remain within the ideal 195 to 200 degree range, reinforcing Dodge Caliber performance by providing an easy access point for servicing.

Dodge Caliber Radiator Drain Plug Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to service a Radiator Drain Plug on Dodge Caliber?
    A:
To access the radiator drain plug, first, take off the front passenger side wheel. Next, remove the front passenger side splash shield assembly from the wheel well. Then, drain the cooling system. To stop the leakage, open the draincock by turning it counterclockwise until it stops and then turn it back clockwise 1/8 turn. Ultimately, remove the draincock from the radiator tank. You should be careful not to use pliers on the draincock, as this could damage either the radiator or the draincock. In a routine coolant drain, it is also worth noting that you need not remove the draincock.
