  The first step to fixing or repairing the 41TE automatic transmission shift cable is to disconnect the battery, remove the battery shield and take the battery out. After that, take out the speed control servo and keep it somewhere clear of the airplane while you work. Remove the cable from the manual valve lever and from its spot in the upper bracket. Get rid of the lower silencer found on the instrument panel and the knee bolster and next empty the gear shift cable from the lever and the bracket on the side of the column. Take the grommet out of the dash panel and unplug the cable at the part inside the car. While installing, insert the gear shift cable through the opening at the dash into the engine compartment and keep the grommet held in place with a zip tie. Move the gear shift cable up the column bracket until there's a click and connect it to the gear shift lever afterward. Put back the knee bolster and the instrument panel lower silencer.
