Check the space between the
Piston rings and both the bore of the cylinder and the piston. The order for fitting the piston rings is oil ring expander, lower oil ring side rail, upper oil ring side rail, No. 2 intermediate piston ring and No. 1 upper piston ring. First, put the oil ring expander on, then slot the side rail between the oil ring expander and the piston ring groove, hold it firmly and press until the side rail is firmly in place without an oil ring expander. Mount the lower side rail first, then the upper side rail on top and remember to set the No. 2 piston ring so that the manufacturer's mark (dot) is facing upward toward the top of the piston since both piston rings are shaped differently. Fit the rings into the bore using the ring expander, putting No. 2 ring on first and No. 1 on second. Mark the piston's oil ring expander gap, lower side rail end gap, upper side rail end gap and piston ring #2 and #1 end gaps according to the specs so the cylinder remains correctly aligned and has sufficient oil.
