To remove the radiator cooling fan, first, partially drain the cooling system. Next, remove the upper radiator hose and the air filter housing assembly. Using Tool 6958 and adapter pins 8346, detach the fan/viscous fan drive assembly from the water pump without removing it from the vehicle at this stage. Position the fan/fan drive assembly in the radiator shroud, then remove the two shroud mounting screws to take out the radiator shroud and fan drive assembly. After removing the fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly, ensure the viscous fan drive is not stored in a horizontal position to prevent silicone fluid from draining into its bearing assembly and contaminating the lubricant. Finally, remove the four bolts securing the fan blade assembly to the viscous fan drive.
