Before removing the gear shift lever, open the steering column, remove the reinforcement, the knob on the tilt lever and take off both the upper and lower shroud. Get rid of the
Brake Light Switch, unscrew the bolts on the column to make space for the gear lever, unplug the tow/haul switch harness and remove the
Shift Cable from the shift lever. After that, detach the SKIM, unscrew the screws that hold the gear shift lever and pull the lever plus the blocker pin from the inhibit link slot. Place the lever assembly on the frame, put the pin into the blocker to slider slot and tighten the mounting screws to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Turn the key from ACC to RUN to ensure the blocker works properly and then adjust it to OFF to confirm the shifter is locked in PARK. Connect the tow/haul switch harness at the proper spot and tie it off and tie the shift cable to the shift lever. Ensure that the shift lever is in PARK and the transmission is in neutral before you snap the adjuster clip in place. First, set the new brake light switch in place, next the SKIM and halo, then finish by assembling the upper and lower column shroud and the tilt lever knob. In the end, fit the column again, tighten the nuts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) and secure the reinforcement and cover in place.
