Dodge Durango Battery Tray Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Battery Tray on Dodge Durango?
    A:
Start by unplugging the battery and then simply take the Power Distribution Center (PDC) off the stanchions at the end of the battery tray. Following this, take out the screws connecting the inboard side of a battery tray to the battery tray support and then the screws securing the outboard end to the left wheelhouse. Take off the screw from the battery tray in front, close to the radiator yoke's left side and pull the battery temperature sensor out of the tray. After that, take out the battery tray from its bracket, the inside front extension of the left wheelhouse panel and then the screw joining the battery tray support to the piece you took out before. Take out the two screws found in the front of the battery tray support on the left side of the radiator yoke. Once removed, pull the battery tray support away from the inside of the left front wheelhouse and the radiator yoke. When you are installing, put the battery tray support on the left front wheelhouse inner panel against the left side of the radiator yoke after cleaning the tray and checking it over. Attach the two left side screws of the battery tray support to the radiator yoke, then install the rear screw into the left front wheelhouse inner panel at 11.3 Nm (100 in. lbs.) for each screw. Then, fit the battery temperature sensor into the tray, place the tray onto the tray support and the front left wheelhouse and make sure the sensor wiring is not touching anything. Screw the rear screw (in that order) and tighten it to 12.4 Nm (110 in. lbs.) on the left side of the battery tray on the front wheelhouse, then secure the front screws to the battery tray support following the same instructions. Eventually, set the one five-sided hex screw attached to the front of the battery tray onto the left side of the radiator yoke and fasten it carefully to 12.4 Nm (110 in. lbs.). Then, attach the Power Distribution Center (PDC) onto the stanchions at the back of the battery tray and put the battery into place on the battery tray.
  • Q: How to remove a Battery Tray on Dodge Durango?
    A:
First, take out the battery from inside the tray before removing it. After that, remove the two upper bolts of the battery tray and then lift out the right front tire and its wheel assembly. After what you just did, go ahead and remove the right front Wheelhouse splash shield. After that, remove the lower battery tray bolts from the bottom of the car. Once done, take off the electrical routing clips at the battery tray, then remove the battery tray from the vehicle.
