How to Detach a Front Exterior Door Handle on Dodge Grand Caravan?

To remove the exterior handle located on the front door, roll up the door glass and remove the watershield as necessary to access the outside door handle. Using the access hole located at the rear of the inner door panel, if equipped, disconnect the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) switch connector from the door harness and disengage the push-in fasteners that secure the VTSS switch harness to the inner door reinforcement bar if equipped. Subsequently, remove the clip which secures the door latch linkage and take out the latch linkage from the door latch. Next, unclip the door lock linkage from the door latch and remove the lock linkage from the latch. At last, detach the fasteners securing the exterior door handle to the outer door panel, thereafter removing the part from the vehicle.

How to Install a Front Exterior Door Handle on Dodge Grand Caravan?

To get started with installing the front door exterior handle, if applicable install the lock cylinder onto the exterior door handle. Insert the front of the outer door handle into the door, then push down on the outer door handle linkage arm and install the rear of the handle to the door. First, fit three bolts to the interior side of the exterior door handle, tightening each to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Through the access opening in the carrier plate, connect the two linkage rods to the external door handle and ensure that the retaining clips are fully latched. If fitted, install the shield for the door lock cylinder at the door, using the hole in the carrier plate. The round close-out plug must be installed on the carrier plate, and the front door trim panel must attach.
