Never try to take out the factory heating element from the seat or cushion/trim cover, since it is permanently fastened and doing so will damage the seat. Rather, the service replacement heating element is meant to be located within the cushion. Disconnect the cable that is dedicated to the negative battery first. After that, carefully remove the
Seat Cushion cover or trim the seat back, using the steps provided in the Body section. Separate the electrical cables from the faulty heating seat cushion or back, then remove the wires from the heating element and trim them straight at the edge of the original heating seat. Make sure to remove the plastic backing from your replacement heating element, then stick it on the foam cushion, careful not to fold or twist it, as this can cause early damage. Isolate the engine from the computer and fix the new heating element electrical connectors, followed by attaching the negative battery cable back again. Use the system controls to test the heating function, then properly install the appropriate seat cushion or back cover so that the seat wire harness follows its correct route through both the seat and back. Place the extra wire inside the gap formed by the cushion and the seat back cover, down near the canopy between the seat's back foam and the rear trim carpet.
