Before servicing the lower control arm and its tension strut bushing, you should take out the entire assembly from the vehicle. After that, take apart the tension strut from the lower control arm assembly. Set the lower control arm into an arbor press, with the tension strut bushing located inside the Receiver and Tool MB-990799. Attach Special Tool 6644-4, the Remover, to the tension strut bushing. Put the arbor press on the Remover, Special Tool 6644-4 and lower the ram until the arbor press won't move it any more. Take the lower control arm out of the arbor press and remove the parts of the tension strut and the Remover, Special Tool 6644-4.

How is the Control Arm Assembled with the Pivot Bushing on Dodge Intrepid?

Before attaching the lower control arm connector, position the lower control arm secured by Receiver and Special Tool MB-990799. Following this, insert a new pivot bushing into the lower control arm with the bushing square in the hole, put Installer, Special Tool 6644-1, on top and press the bushing firmly into the recessed area of the Installer. Insert the pivot bushing into the lower control arm and continue until you feel the Special Tool 6644-1 against the arm. Then, fasten the tension strut to the lower control arm and place the assembly into your car.
