  Place the hood latch close to the front of the headlamp mounting crossmember to link the release cable ball point to the hood latch lever and the other end to the latch. After that, connect the latch to the crossmember so that the small end is in front and screw both bolts in place until they reach 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Shift the latch where needed for the door to work properly. After that, with the headlamp mounting crossmember to the left, place the right underhood appearance cover and squeeze downwards with your hands until the clips snap into the mounting holes. Match the locking corners on the inside of the right and left appearance covers and place them against the crossmember beneath the left headlamp. Squeeze down on the left appearance cover to place each integral clip into the receptacle. Before you shut the cover, attach the battery's negative cable back.

  Disconnect the negative cable from the battery before you attempt to service and repair the hood latch. At first, take the left appearance cover off by unsnapping it from the headlamp mounting crossmember, then remove the interlocking detail on the left and lift it out of the car. After that, unfasten the right appearance cover from the crossmember holding the headlamps and take it off. Note the spot for the hood latch under the front of the headlamp mounting crossmember for easier refitting. Pull out the two screws from the latch on the front of the crossmember, then remove the latch from the front to take out the cable ball end and the release cable housing. Employees should then remove the hood latch from the vehicle.
